Rewarding ourself

Most people would love to be their own boss; to choose when they work and how much they earn. There are many rewarding factors to running your own business and being able to see your work and efforts being rewarding is very satisfying to say the least!

Running your own business puts you in the driver’s seat – you can take control of things that may not have crossed your mind before, such as how much you will charge for your product or services and now your ideas can be put into place with no one to tell you that it won’t work. You really are in control of your destiny, as your business will only become as successful as you make it!

Knowing that you have made your first sale, or reached your business goals is a great feeling, even more when you know that it was down to your hard work and determination. You can truly feel valued knowing that without you, the business would have gotten nowhere – where as if you are employed you may not feel needed or respected as much as you should be.

You are free to ‘do it your way’, and take the risks that you want to take. It is your business and you are the one who can make it succeed – how you do that is up to you! You have created a job for yourself, and now you don’t have anyone to take orders from. You control how much you earn instead of doing a lot of hard work for someone else and being paid a fixed salary. How much you earn is down to the effort you put in, and that will reflect like never before – it’s a great motivation and will encourage you to keep going even through the tough times.

Being in charge of a business is a big task and when it is done well and the business is successful the owner will see a rise in self-esteem and confidence. This will not only be felt by you but by the people around you and can really make an impact on your life. You now have something to be proud of and it’s a great satisfaction when someone asks you for your job title! It is also a great conversation starter and will definitely earn you a few more friends.

The most rewarding factor for me is knowing that my hard work is respected and has paid off, whereas I have never really felt this in a normal nine-to-five job. You feel disposable because there are many other people who could do your job just as well, if not better, but when you run your own business it is your creativity, skill and ideas that push the business further. Making the wrong choices can break you and your business, but making the correct ones could make you a millionairre. It is those kind of risks that I thrive on, because it is like a strategy game, things won’t happen for you – you have to make them happen. Knowing that you made a business that started with nothing and turned it into a business which earns money and perhaps employs people is a great feeling and it is something that not everyone is able to do.

Sure it is challenging to start a new business and make it successful, but the amount of pride and the sense of achievement that you get in the end is indescribable. You could be earning the same amount as your previous employer paid you, but it will feel much better and much more enjoyable knowing that you are earning every penny for yourself and that your ideas are truly valued and needed. You can be whoever you want to be, and the sky is never the limit!
